REFRIGERATION AND AIR CONDITIONING

Program Description

The Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Apprentice program trains you to install, maintain, repair and overhaul industrial, commercial and residential refrigeration and air conditioning systems and their component parts. Such skills are in high demand in a variety of industries including process manufacturing, the medical profession, the petroleum industry, chemical processing and environmental control.

Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanics work from blueprints or instructions to mount or place system components, and involves diagnosing problems and fixing units by replacing or repairing their controls. As a mechanic you will also repair and troubleshoot combination heating/cooling equipment, and calibrate related controls.

In this 12-week program heavy lifting may be required, and all course materials required by a first year Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic apprentice, including additional hands-on skills and safety training are included.

This program prepares you to enter an apprenticeship and, on successful completion of the program, to write the first year Refrigeration Apprenticeship Exam.
