CARPENTER

Program Description

This industry-driven program will train you to construct, erect and repair buildings and other structures made of wood, wood substitutes, steel and other materials.

Carpenters' duties vary depending on the industry in which they work; residential, commercial, and industrial or maintenance construction. As a carpenter, you may be involved in cribbing the basement, building the house framework or exterior finish, or building bridges, tunnels and towers.

Carpenters may also specialize in one type of work such as such as framing, bench work or finishing carpentry. The program will prepare the student to enter the workforce as an apprentice, and upon successful completion of the program, to write the first year carpenter apprenticeship exams.
