AUTOMOTIVE SERVICE AND HEAVY EQUIPMENT TECHNICIAN

The Pre-Employment Automotive Service and Heavy Equipment Technician program is a blend of the first year of the Automotive Service Technician program is essentially a blend of the first year of the Automotive Service Technician and Heavy Equipment Technician apprenticeship programs. This program will provide will provide you with excellent preparation for a shortened apprencticeship in either trade.

During this program, you will learn the basic repair and maintenance of drivelines, suspension systems, air and hydraulic brake systems, and some electrical systems for automotive vehicles, light and heavy trucks.

Your Career

Upon succesful completion of the program you may find opportunities to obtain certification in both trades.

Automotive Service Technician journeymen may find work in automotive repair shops, specialty repair shops, service facilities, car and truck dealerships and by organizations that own fleets of vehicles.

Heavy Equipment Technician journeymen can find mechanical repair careers in trucking, light and heavy-duty construction, logging, open pit mining, public utilities, oilfield servicing, manufacturing, marine industry and agriculture.

In either field, students can advance to shop foreman, service manager or other management positions.
