RESPIRATORY THERAPY

Program Description

Respiratory Therapists assist physicians in diagnosing, treating and managing patients with cardiopulmonary and associated disorders. At SAIT, you will gain valuable experience in adult, pediatric and neonatal intensive care units, emergency departments and other relevant care facilities.

In our Centre for Advanced Patient Care Simulation, you will use high-fidelity human patient simulators that physiologically respond to medical treatment. There is a practicum placement in your second year, which may occur in Calgary, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, Red Deer, Saskatoon or Regina.

Your Career

You will find employment as a respiratory therapist in acute care hospitals, community and home care programs, diagnostic laboratories, educational institutions, research facilities, pharmaceutical companies, medical sales and services or private companies.
