LIBRARY INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

Program Description

The Library Information Technology program offers library-specific skills, both computer-based and traditional, that are required to organize and manage a modern information centre or library. You will gain proficiency in every area of library operations from database searching, library network technology, cataloguing and classification to public relations, web design and records management.

Your Career

You may find employment as a library technician/assistant, information specialist, cybrarian, research assistant/analyst, and records management technician. This program also prepares you for numerous career opportunities in the public and school libraries, as well as in the specialty libraries of petroleum, law, medical, geological, social services, government.
