GEOMATICS ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY

Program Description

Geomatics Engineering Technology provides you with the hands-on skills to succeed as a surveying technologist. The program combines extensive practical skills training complemented by a broad theoretical background that gives you the skills required by the geomatics industry.

The surveying major of the program provides students with the ability to plan, execute and supervise the collection of field surveying data using the latest in electronic and satellite based technology. The program also includes serveral mapping courses.

The mapping major focuses on the collection and interpretation of data obtained from aerial photography, satellite imagery and other remote sensing equipment and the presentation and integration of the data into maps and geographical information systems.

Your Career

As a graduate of this program, you may find work as surveying or mapping technologists in a broad range of industry sectors including; land surveying, mapping, energy exploration and production, civil engineering and construction, GIS, mining and natural resources and federal/provincial/ municipal governments.
