FILM AND VIDEO PRODUCTION
Program Description
The film and video industries play a key role in entertaining and informing Canadians. The creative and artistic output of these industries appears on movie, television and computer screens nationwide, supporting thousands of jobs and generating hundreds of millions of dollars in annual revenue.
Film and Video students acquire the fundamentals of scriptwriting, directing, cinematography, sound recording and editing. As a student, you will work with 16 and Super 16 mm motion picture cameras, broadcast-quality video cameras and editing, graphics and sound workstations. You will also learn to use a wide range of support equipment and software.
Students work at a three or four-week practicum in the fourth semester.

Your Career
Entry-level salaried and freelance opportunities are available in production and writing, performing, craft services and technical operations. You will find work in the film, video and related industries, and in the media departments of corporate, government, educational and charitable institutions. Many graduates create their own freelance companies to provide services to the core industries.
