Bachelor of Science (Construction Project Management)
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Bachelor of Science (Construction Project Management) degree (BSc-CPM) program is the first of its kind offered in Canada and was built by industry for industry. Within the Alberta construction industry alone, there are 916 projects underway or scheduled to start within two years valued at $182 billion. A need for trained management professionals was identified and SAIT developed this program to build the skills of future leaders in this industry.
This unique four-year degree program in Construction Project Management combines theoretical learning, immersive learning and technological training to prepare graduates for exciting careers in many related industries. It focuses on the study of how the principles of scientific management are applied to construction projects. It is a high-demand field, encompassing construction management and extending to the design, tender and facilities management elements of construction projects. Environmental sustainability and its application to the construction industry is also an important element of the program preparing graduates for the future needs of the industry.
Combining classroom training, laptop delivery modules and a required industry internship, this program provides graduates with the practical and theoretical skills they need to succeed. Students will also build an e-portfolio throughout their program which will demonstrate their skills and abilities to potential employers.
