EMERGENCY MEDICAL RESPONDER

Program Description

The Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) program is an entry level training program in the field of pre-hospital care designed to prepare you to become an Emergency Medical Technician.

You will study: emergency medical services, ambulance operations, patient assessment, basic life support, trauma and medical emergencies, pediatrics, childbirth, geriatrics, environmental, psychological and special situations.

This program combines computer managed self-study of theoretical concepts with mandatory lab days so you can acquire the practical skills required for your success.

The EMR program is approved by Alberta Learning and the Alberta College of Paramedics. You will be eligible to write the Alberta College of Paramedics provincial EMR registration exam upon completion of the program.

Provincial Emergency Medical Responder registration is required for you to continue on to the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and Paramedic levels.
